WRITINGS
Ruth is the author of several nonfiction books about her travels in Spain, Mexico, and her native Cuba.
It was during a moment of panic before one of her first return trips to Cuba, when she was so afraid she couldn’t leave her bed, that the idea for Lucky Broken Girl emerged. What began as an autobiographical story about her own immigration from Cuba as a young girl soon became a novel, a story at its heart about the immigrant experience and the healing power of the arts.
Ruth has also written personal stories and poems, many of which have found a home in beautiful handmade books produced by Cuban artist Rolando Estévez.
